WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING

Does WCW have any plans to establish a marquee PPV like Starrcade used to be and like the WWF has with WrestleMania right now ?

I don't believe they do. I think it makes good sense for a company to build their plans around a spectacular show. However, in a company like WCW, which at the moment has little interest in the value of the title belts or building in depth characters, I think they will try to get what they can out of every PPV with so-called "shocks". I think they are treating every PPV equally, and not very well.

I was wondering what the ratings were the first night that the Outsiders showed up on Nitro ?

May 27, 1996 - First appearance of Scott Hall - 2.8

June 10, 1996 - First appearance of Kevin Nash - 2.6

June 17, 1996 - Nitro, the day after Nash & Hall powerbombed Eric Bischoff through a table at the Great American Bash - 3.4

July 8, 1996 - Day after Hulk Hogan turns heel and the NWO is born - 3.5

Who were the original Four Horsemen and who else has served in the group ?

The original Horsemen were comprised of:

Ric Flair

Arn Anderson

Ole Anderson

Tully Blanchard

Manager: J. J. Dillon

Other group members:

Lex Luger ; Barry Windham ; Sting ; Sid Vicious ; Paul Roma ; Chris Benoit ; Steve McMichael ; Brian Pillman ; Jeff Jarrett ; Dean Malenko

About the Chris Benoit/Kevin Sullivan situation. I don't have the whole story. Could you help me out please ?

Kevin Sullivan and Woman(Nancy Sullivan) were married, and their marriage came to an end. Woman became romantically linked with Chris Benoit, and Sullivan, who was booking WCW, actually turned his real life breakup, and Benoit's relationship with Woman, into a storyline. It was an unusual case of Sullivan using his position to have "art imitate life." Sullivan's retirement was even a part of the storyline, as he ended his feud with Benoit in a "Loser must retire" match at Bash At the Beach '97.

Why did WCW release Meng ?

It appeared for quite some time that Meng was being built up for an extended run with Tank Abbott, but then he was released. No real reason was given, other than the fact that WCW was looking to slim down their roster, which was very overcrowded at the time.

While Lance Storm was defending his Canadian title, why, if the match can only be won by submission, was the referee counting near falls ?

The best guess would be that the referee did not read his Canadian rulebook.

Is Horace Hogan really Hulk Hogan's nephew ?

Yes. Horace spent several years working for the FMW promotion in Japan as Horace Boulder before coming to the U.S. and using his relation to Hogan as part of his gimmick.

How is it that WCW can lose millions of dollars ?

WCW signed many of their wrestlers to huge guaranteed money contracts that had to be paid out, no matter how business was. The expenses of the shows, which include everything from TV production expenses, to special effects, to all the cars they destroyed, right down to catering, is huge. When the company was doing well in terms of attendance, PPV buyrates, ad revenue and merchandise sales, they were fine. When their business dwindled, they were still operating as they did when they were prosperous, with the same expenses. As a result, their losses piled up, creating the debt they have now.

Whatever happened to the WCW TV title? Why did they get rid of it ?

On November 21, 1999, Rick Steiner, who was out with an injury, was stripped of the title by then WCW President Kevin Nash, who awarded the title to Scott Hall. The following week, Hall said he didn't want it, and tossed the belt in the garbage can.

On February 16, 2000, Hacksaw Jim Duggan "found" the title in the trash, and started to defend it on WCW Saturday Night, with the idea being that you would only see the title defended on that show. On April 10, 2000, when Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff "cleaned the slate" and vacated all titles, the TV belt wasn't even mentioned, and has not been mentioned since.

Was DDP's 'mysterious benefactor' ever revealed ?

No.

I was wondering if Lex Luger and Miss Elizabeth return ?

Miss Elizabeth has been released from WCW. Lex Luger is still under contract, and has been appearing on WCW house shows. No word on when, or if, he will return to television.

What is the deal with the comment Eric Bischoff made concerning Sid Vicious and a pair of scissors ?

On October 28, 1993, Sid and Arn Anderson had a violent confrontation in a hotel while on tour in England. During the fight, I believe Sid stabbed Arn in the arm with a pair of scissors. Sid and Arn have since made amends.

Why is Scott Hall not wrestling ?

After taking time off for a variety of personal reasons, Scott Hall returned to WCW earlier this year, but was injured at Superbrawl in February, during the main event where Sid Vicious won a Three Way over Hall and Jeff Jarrett. According to Kevin Nash, Hall is medically cleared to wrestle and ready to go.

With the recent "downplaying" of Bobby Heenan on WCW telecasts, I was wondering what Bobby's contract status with the company was? Also, what is his status with Vince McMahon, why did he leave the WWF, is he still on good terms and do you ever think he will return ?

Bobby Heenan, as far as we know, still has a valid contract with the company, although we do not know the length of the deal, or what type of out clauses it might have. Heenan left the WWF for WCW solely because WCW, at the time, was offering announcers guaranteed contracts, something WWF was not. Heenan left the company on good terms, and even did a "farewell" angle where Gorilla Monsoon literally threw him out the door. After a brief break, Heenan debuted with WCW. Whether Heenan will ever be seen in the WWF again, is unknown.

In the late 80's or early 90's in WCW, did Sting fight Robocop on a PPV ?

No, Sting did not wrestle him, but RoboCop did help Sting during the Capital Combat '90 pay-per-view, "bending open" the "steel" bars on a cage.

Who is Kiwi? And where is Lodi ?

Kwee Wee formerly wrestled as Alan Funk. Lodi has been released by WCW.

What happened to Arn Anderson to force him out of wrestling ?

He was forced out of wrestling prematurely after he suffered nerve damage in one of his arms that took away much of his strength, especially in his hand which looked almost crippled as a result of the severe nerve damage.

Is Paul Wight really Andre the Giant's son ?

NO!!!! It was just a publicity stunt by WCW to lend more heat to the Giant's character and to further signify a Hogan-Giant feud. Andre only had one daughter.
