Why is Linda McMahon the CEO of the WWF while Vince McMahon is only the President. If the WWF goes back in Vince's family to his Grandfather, how did Linda get a higher position than Vince?
The simple answer is Vince and Linda McMahon run the company together. The WWF was the first wrestling company to use a corporate structure, as until that point you essentially had owners, bookers, and assistants. One common theory is that Linda was made CEO due to the fear that Vince McMahon may have been found guilty in the steroid trial in the early 90's and sent to prison.
Where is Ken Shamrock? Has he left wrestling?
Ken Shamrock has taken a leave of absence from the WWF in order to pursue his shoot fighting goals. Ken felt that it maybe his last chance to compete in the business where he first made his name. The WWF do have plans to bring him back when he has finished with shoot fighting.
Did Kane use to be Issac Yankem ?
Yes, Kane is indeed played by the former Isaac Yankem DDS. Glen Jacobs was also the Fake Diesel in WWF, and Unibomb in Smoky Mountain Wrestling.
Who were the two guys that Jim Cornette had attack Davey Boy Smith and Owen Hart on Raw a few years ago ? They were both large and coloured.
I think you're referring to Headhunters, named A and B. Their time in the WWF was very short, consisting of a Royal Rumble, and the incident you described. I think Davey Boy Smith and Owen Hart came out the winners after a Slam by Smith. The Headhunters have had far more success in Japan, where they have competed in several organisations including ECW and IWA in Puerto Rico.
Back in the spring of 97, an incident occurred backstage at a WWF event between Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart. Was it a work or a shoot ?
The announcers said that they had some kind of argument. Apparently, it really happened, and was not a work. What occurred is that Bret and Shawn ran into each other in a bathroom. Bret suggested that they put their personal animosity aside for the good of the company, but Shawn blew him off with some type of insulting comment, and the confrontation turned physical. Shawn was sent home that day, but was back soon enough.
When do they tape WWF Heat, Metal, and Jakked?
They tape the matches for Heat before they tape Smackdown, whilst taping for Jakked/Metal is done before Raw.
What was the outside interference that took place in the Wrestlemania II match between The Dream Team (Beefcake & Valentine) and the British Bulldogs? What happened was that one of the Bulldogs's made the cover on Greg Valentine, but Brutus was making his way into the ring, but someone at ringside grabbed Beefcake's ankle. The announcers claim that his foot got caught up in the ropes. However, it's clear that someone grabbed him.
The person tripping Brutus Beefcake was the second referee. Since Beefcake and Valentine had been keeping the title through outside interference by manager Johnny Valiant, a second referee was going to patrol ringside during the match. He was the one that tripped Beefcake, to keep him from breaking up Davey Boy Smith's cover of Valentine. Gorilla Monsoon, who made the call for the match, simply didn't notice that the ref had tripped him, and when Beefcake fell, he looked like he was tangled in the ropes.
Why did Ric Flair leave the WWF in early 1993?
His contract with the WWF came to an end, and Flair returned to WCW. Flair lost to Mr. Perfect on Monday Night Raw in a "Loser Leaves WWF" match, and left.
Is Triple HHH really married to Stephanie?
No.
Was Macho Man's wedding to Liz on PPV real?
Randy Savage and Elizabeth were already married in 1984, a long before their SummerSlam nuptials. They divorced, for real and have been divorced for quite some time.
Was Rikishi once known as "The Tonga Kid"?
Yes. Solofa Fatu was known as Fatu in the Headshrinkers and Samoan Swat Team. He was also the "Make a Difference" Fatu and the Sultan. He has also the Tonga Kid, billed as Tonga Kid Alopha. Now, he is Rikishi Phatu. There was also another, more well-known Tonga Kid, who wrestled in the WWF.
Why didn't Curt Hennig wrestle the final years he was in the WWF?
Hennig suffered a serious back injury that put him on the shelf for a long time. Because Hennig was insured, he stayed out rather than rush a return to the ring.
Who was the executioner who wrestled Tito Santana at Wrestlemania 1?
The Executioner was Playboy Buddy Rose.
Who was the Santa Claus who attacked Savio Vega at an In Your House Event ?
I believe that Balls Mahoney portrayed the Xanta Klaus.
What happened at the SummerSlam '93 main event? With all the hype, the Lex Express bus tour, and the balloons raining down at the end, why did Luger fail to emerge as WWF champion?
After a summer long build-up, Luger defeated Yokozuna at Summerslam '93 by countout, winning the match, but not the title. The most logical explanation is that there was more money to be made with a heel champion that Lex, Undertaker and Bret Hart could challenge for the World Title.
What was the reason and the ending to the egg story in WWF at the Survivor Series, years ago ?
As the 1990 Survivor Series approached, the WWF promised a major surprise, and started to show a giant egg, claiming something would emerge from it at the PPV. Well, the egg did crack, and the Gobbledy Gooker (Hector Guerrero in a chicken suit) emerged, came to the ring, and danced with Mean Gene Okerlund.
How did Ric Flair defeat the "Macho Man" Randy Savage to win his second World Wrestling Federation Championship in September of 1992?
On September 1, 1992 in Hershey, PA, Ric Flair defeated Randy Savage with the figure four leglock. During the match, Flair worked on Savage's injured knee. Razor Ramon came to ringside towards the end of the bout and kicked Savage's knee out from under him. Flair got him back in the ring, and slapped on the figure four leglock. Savage battled it for several minutes until he passed out from the pain, and his shoulders were counted down for a pin.
What was the main event of the December 1997 WWF D-Generation X pay-per view (WWF Championship match) and what took place at the conclusion of that match?
Ken Shamrock defeated WWF Champion Shawn Michaels by disqualification in the main event of the December 8, 1997 PPV. After the bout, Owen Hart emerged from the crowd and attacked Michaels. It was Owen's first appearance in the WWF since the Bret Hart incident in Montreal at the Survivor Series.
How did Randy Savage defeat the late Andre the Giant in a WWF title match in the late 1980's?
If you are referring to the series of matches they had after Savage won the WWF World Title at Wrestlemania IV, the answer is that all of the matches ended in countout and disqualification wins for Savage. In the only one I've seen on Coliseum Video, Andre was disqualified for choking Savage.
Do you remember a character from the WWF in the early 90's, he always wore a white tank top, he had a tattoo of a diamond on his forehead, he was a heel, but always putting his hand out for a handshake and he had long black hair in the back, but balding up top, does any of this ring a bell?
The character was Waylon Mercy, played by Dan Spivey briefly towards the end of his career. He did a series of eerie vignettes, wrestled for a short time, and then the gimmick was dropped. He did wrestle Bret Hart and Savio Vega in what were probably the highest profile matches of the "Waylon Mercy" run.
Did the Freebirds ever wrestle in the WWF ? I seem to remember the Freebirds wrestling a six-man tag on Wrestling Challenge, or Superstars.
The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes, Terry Gordy and Buddy Roberts) did compete for the WWF in the early-80's. As the story goes, the WWF wanted to split up the team, but the Freebirds refused, and left the Federation.
What really happened back in Oct. 90 when the Rockers beat the Hart Foundation clean for the tag team titles. Jack Tunney said the ropes were lose and wasn't fair for both teams. Why did they really strip the Rockers and put the belts back on the Harts?
The original plan was to have The Rockers win the titles from The Hart Foundation in a two out of three-fall match. During the match, the top rope broke, and the teams worked around it, and still went through the planned finish of having The Rockers win. When looking at the match, the WWF decided that the ropes being broken and the resulting match was not good enough to air. They instead had Jack Tunney do a promo claiming the ropes being broken invalidated the bout, and returned the belts to the Harts. The WWF also decided that since word had gotten out about the title change, it would look bad to immediately redo the match, so the belts stayed on the Harts, and the Rockers never did win the gold.
Which WrestleMania's did game show hosts Alex Trebek (Jeopardy!) and the late Ray Combs (Family Feud) do ring announcing?
Trebek was guest ring announcer at Wrestlemania VII, and Combs announced at Wrestlemania VIII.
Did the WWF ever reveal who moved the briefcase at the 1999 King of the Ring?
No, but it is commonly thought that the Big Boss Man was the culprit. The Match between Steve Austin and Vince & Shane McMahon had the stip that if any member of the corporation interfered, Austin won. The Boss Man was sacked from the Corporation the Monday before the event and was welcomed back the Monday after.
Before the 1992 Survivor Series, the WWF hyped the Ultimate Warrior being in the main event tag match, and then he was pulled out like the week before. What happened to him and why didn't the WWF ever mention what happened?
Ultimate Warrior, as he has done several times in his career, decided he agreed to less money than he deserved and held up the WWF for more money to participate on the event he had already agreed to participate on. As a result, the WWF let him walk rather than give in to his demands. The WWF made a suitable substitute in Curt Hennig, who was a big name who had not wrestled since SummerSlam '91 after dropping the Intercontinental Title to Bret Hart. His back injury recovered enough in the subsequent 15 months for him to return as an emergency replacement.
When Kevin Nash and Scott Hall left the WWF for the WCW, why did Vince McMahon try to sub two wrestlers in their places as Diesel and Razor Ramon?
The impostor Razor Ramon was an indy wrestler named Rick Bogner who had done a Razor Ramon imitation in ECW for a short time before the WWF hired him. The fake Diesel was Glenn Jacobs who used to work as Dr. Isaac Yankem, and of course now wrestles as Kane. The angle was part of an attempted Jim Ross heel turn. The new characters were introduced around the same time the WWF filed a lawsuit against WCW for stealing the Diesel and Razor Ramon characters. They said Nash and Hall's WCW persona too closely resembled the likeness of the WWF-created characters, which were trademarked by the WWF. McMahon may have been trying to prove a legal point that it is important when a wrestler leaves the WWF that they drop their persona because personas are not the property of the wrestler, they are property of the WWF, which may want to continue using the character.
I have always been a fan of every wrestler in the Clique. Could you please give me some insight or stories on what exactly the Clique did and how they "ran" the WWF. Also, who was considered the leader?
The real-life Clique behind the scenes in the WWF a few years ago consisted of Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Sean "1-2-3 Kid/X-Pac" Waltman. When Triple H joined the WWF, despite not being a partyer like the other four, he quickly befriended them and became part of the Clique. The leader was probably Shawn Michaels at first, but as Nash's statue grew he became very outspoken. Hall and Waltman were considered the brains behind the Clique. They had very strong opinions and because they were top wrestlers in the company, they wielded influence behind the scenes with Vince McMahon. If you crossed them, the feeling was they had the power to turn McMahon against you and eliminate your push.
Why did Ric Flair lose the WWF title to Bret Hart and why wasn't it a PPV or televised match?
Bret Hart beat Ric Flair on Oct. 12, 1992 in Saskatoon, Canada in a match that didn't air on TV (it was taped for Coliseum Home Video) to begin his first WWF Title reign. It was a surprise title switch, as previously it was believed that Vince McMahon didn’t consider Bret WWF Title material. The move may have been prompted by difficult negotiations with Ultimate Warrior. Warrior was scheduled to face Ric Flair in WWF Title matches at upcoming house shows, but in order to take leverage away from Warrior, they switched the house show matches to Bret Hart defending against Ric Flair.
After "SummerSlam '99", Didn't Shawn Michaels complain about Steve Austin not doing the right thing in his match with Triple H ? I was wondering what Austin supposedly did that angered Michaels.
The match was originally supposed to be a singles match between Austin and Triple H, with Austin dropping the WWF Title to Triple H. Instead, Austin suggested Mick Foley be added to the match, making it a three-way which Triple H was still supposed to win. The Friday before SummerSlam, the finish was changed to having Mankind pin Austin, with Triple H attacking Austin with a chair to set up Austin's long lay-off. The next night on Raw, Triple H pinned Mankind to win the WWF Title for the first time.
Michaels main complaint seemed to be that by not putting over Triple H himself, Austin denied Triple H momentum that would have given him a boost heading into his first title reign. It should be noted that some people believed that the WWF decided to have Mankind win at SummerSlam so that special referee Jesse Ventura could raise a babyfaces hand instead of a heel.
Why did the Ultimate Warrior leave the WWF in the years 1991, 1992 and 1996?
In 1991 and 1992, he left because he was being moved in a lesser slot within WWF's roster (much like Hulk Hogan) and exercised an option in his contract that allowed him to go elsewhere. In 1996, the Warrior missed an awful lot of dates and wasn't figuring in on any of the WWF's big angles so the company decided to release him.
What happened to Mick Foleys ear?
On March 16, 1994, in a match against Vader in Germany, Cactus Jack got his head caught in the ropes somehow and the tension between the ropes got tighter and tighter until it finally snapped his right ear off.
Was Andre the Giant truly undefeated for 10 years?
Yes. From 1977 up until his defeat to Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 3, there was no documented case of anyone beating Andre. He may have lost during that time here and there, but again there are no records that show that.
How did Andre die?
Andre suffered from severe heart problems due to his immense height and weight. When he was a child, doctors predicted that he would not live past the age of 30. While attending his father's funeral in 1993, Andre died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 46 years old.
What happened to Brutus Beefcake’s face ?
In 1990, Beefcake and B. Brian Blair were parasailing and some freak accident caused Blair to spin wildly out of control and slam into Beefcake's face with his knees. Brutus' entire face was shattered and it required re-constructive facial surgery to put his face back together. Beefcake did not recover until 1993 and it effectively ruined his successful career up until that point.
How many Doinks have there have been?
The answer is 4. The original guy was Matt Borne, he was then followed up by the guy who played as "Skinner" (Steve Kiern). At this time, there were two Doinks on WWF TV as they did their angle with Crush. Then Steve Lombardi (The Brooklyn Brawler) stepped in to play the part after which the final Doink, Ray Licachelli entered the picture. It's funny to note that Licachelli was a virtual nobody in the wrestling world and the WWF pretty much picked him off of the streets to play the part with the the midget Dink (below).
Do you know who was the "mystery man" that would do run-ins on WWF Superstars attacking Earthquake. I think it was when Earthquake was feuding with Hulk Hogan. Do you know who was under the mask?
The unnamed masked man was Brutus Beefcake.
